Do It Myself
As you guys already know, I lost the DIY battle to a bag. But that’s okay, I love my shoes anyway! I just wanted to give you the heads up that Vancouver’s The Style Spy blog has featured my design, and I’m so happy to be recognized. Thanks! (Shout out to The F Game, still going strong).
Check out the post here.
XX > XY
I hate getting onto a band bandwagon. It is not an authenticity thing, but simply, I don’t want to seem like I like a group because a few choice cool kids do already. Well, fuck it, because The XX sound really good. I just bought their CD today (I buy my CD’s), and it is so fitting for the weather and in my room it makes it feel a little more enclosed (the way I like it to be).
On other news, I went to the United Way Book Sale at school, and though I didn’t walk away with many books that I will never read last year, I made a select few wise choices I can be proud of. I found some really great contemporary works like Middlesex, 100 Years of Solitude, The Deep End of the Ocean, some classics like Catcher in the Rye (which I’m giving away to Sasha P.) a collection of H.G. Wells shorts, and a couple other presents. Books are the best presents.
Highlights of my day: the books, chit chatting/laughing with Sasha P. and Dani T.S. (shout out!), getting advice from a major thread and a major motion picture, and listening to rap music for class.
What happened to you today?
Canada, Who?
Just wanted to say that I’m proud of this country for reasons that are not political at all, just that sometimes I eavesdrop (by accident) on conversations on the 145 or the Skytrain to Production and I hear really stupid stuff (uneducated banter, riddled with not so clever swear words*). But when I get insight from students who say the most intelligent and … inspiring things? Wow, really causes my heart to have these weird pangs.
Thanks to those students who let me interview them for my project.
*I like swearing like a sailor. But I like to think I’m smart about it. There’s a time and place for everything.
I’m Going To Beat You This Time, Christmas
The view from my room last December
Ah, mid-November. That means: holidays at all your lovely shopping meccas. Sigh. So disturbing, head-ache bringing, the bells, and mistletoe, strung up for the masses.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m getting ahead of the whole Christmas thing and my mission this year is to have my Christmas shopping done by December 1. No crazy lineups, no distressed phone calls, no nothing, so I can just focus on the more important stuff like exams and pages in the first couple weeks of December, and relaxing or making extra coin this holiday season. I’ve been scoping out Craigslist for the latest part time holiday relief jobs I can. I hope wherever I end up I don’t end up using the money I’ve earned and put it back towards the place (ie: retail). Today I pretty much scored, I knocked a couple of people from my shortlist, and I already know what to get others (or make, as I prefer handmade stuff versus store-bought. Like cookies).
I’m also excited because with each passing day I can prepare myself for Team Vietnam: Phouck Yeah, the trip to Vietnam with the best and her fam. Three weeks of Vietnam (and possibly Thailand). I’m sure I’m going to blog all about it when I’m there, I’m just really, really excited. I have the travelling bug like nobody’s business. On the 28th I’m also heading to Seattle with Sheila and Patricia, and that’ll be pretty fun. When am I going to hit up the east coast?! I’ve only been to Ottawa. I really should go to Montreal and or New York while I still have friends to visit… if you’re reading this and you’re currently there (ahem, Ali and Jordan), I’ll make it my mission to visit you this summer. I promise. If you’ll have me.
It’s currently 2:48AM. Insomnia really, really sucks.

I haven’t forgotten about my blog, thankfully. Just life sucks for the moment, but today I don’t feel like making it suck, because well, there are many things to be thankful and happy about (besides the obvious):
1. Girls who can shop til we drop. Thrifting has so many positives, like a mid century leather chair for $30 (the most comfortable back too!), a YSL Trench for $13, amongst other things (Say silk, silk, silk. What do cows drink?).
2. Going out. Again. I’m getting re-acquainted.
3. The ability to smile. Sometimes you just have to do it first before you feel it.
4. Television. I like rotting my brains.
5. BEING A FINALIST FOR ALDO’S DIY CONTEST.
6. People who believe in what you’re up to – it’s nice getting support, thank you.
7. Music (see below).
I find that I can’t walk around using transit without putting something to strut to. Works wonders for the esteem. Also dancing with my music in transit not caring if that dude in the corner cares. I’m having fun and you’re not.
Tomorrow I’m going out to an open audition for another VJ opening for a blog. If I get it, that’d be awesome. If I don’t that’s fine too, I’m happy developing my own show. More details later!
I’m going to clean my room. Let’s get down to Barcelona, shall we?
Peanut Butter Jelly Time
Pretty Sure this is the only thing that can make me smile at the moment.
Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
I posted this new look on Facebook, and I just wanted to share on here. Thanks so much Gracie from The Chop Shop for my request! And Thanks to my super friend, Kimbotron, for anticipating the haircut with me!
